Needless to say, Medical expenses can be costly in Canada….and abroad.
For those traveling outside of Canada – Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) have limits.
Private facility fees, private MRI's, food, lodging, transportation, and etc, would not be covered under the AHCIP. An important factor in your trip, wherever it may be, would be to cover the unexpected costs that may arise from an accident or illness.
For those who are visiting Alberta – just because residents don't pay for healthcare, doesn't mean it's a free service.
Without an Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, a Non-resident Fee at the hospital could cost you thousands of dollars.
That isn't for a fancy V.I.P treatment, but for an ordinary in-patient services. Really!
